Hampshire can be a lovely place to own property. Parts of the county are within commuting distance to London, it runs down to the south coast and also contains the spectacular New Forest.

- Winchester
Coming at at number 5 on our list is Winchester. This city which lies next to the South Downs National Park has an average property price of £320,000.
The Sunday Times ranked Winchester as number one on the list of best cities to live in, describing is as ‘practically perfect’. It is an ancient city, known for its cathedral, university and castle and comes with a wonderful town centre comprising various historical buildings
It has its own train station, taking you into London in around 1 hour.
- Fawley
The fourth poshest place to buy property in Hampshire, is Fawley with an average cost of £325,000
This is an oil own. Previously it was a small village, but the arrival of the Esso Refinery in 1921 transformed it into a growing town. Esso is still the main employer in the town.
- Kings Worthy
Coming at at number 3 on our list of poshest places is Kings Worthy. This town has an average property price of £335,000.
This is a popular village, so notwithstanding its average property price, it would need safer to assume that you would be paying more than £360,000. It lies very close to Winchester and has its own primary school, so popular with young families.
- Lyndhurst
Number 2 on our countdown is Lyndhurst. This town has an average property price of £385,000.
This historical village is known as the Capital of the New Forest and indeed most of the area’s administration is undertaken here. It does not have its own railway station but is very close to Brockenhurst and Ashurst New Forest which do have train stations.
- Brockenhurst
Top of our list of poshest places in Hampshire is the lovely village of Brockenhurst. It is set in the heart of the New Forest and although a few properties do come on the market at the £400,000 level, realistically you will be looking to pay for than £500,000.
This has its own railway station which can can you to Southampton in 30 minutes and London in 1 hour 40 minutes. But while here you seem to forget about cities, as wild horses run free in the fields. The village is one of the largest in the New Forest with its own decent high street and schools.
